Overview
The NBX‑981 is a 15-way fuse box for commercial-vehicle harnesses that need a little more circuit count than the NBX‑955 but don't yet justify the move to a central distribution box. It is well suited to coach, medium-truck and service-vehicle cab panels.
Engineering details
Electrical specification: 12 V / 24 V harness voltages, −40 to +85 °C working range, configurable ATO/ATC blade-fuse plan, modular cover for field-service access. Connector options are quoted to the program.
- 15 circuits — incremental capacity over NBX‑955
- Configurable fuse plan and connector pin-out
- Modular cover, serviceable in the field
- Pairs well with NBX‑2404 relay box for switched circuits
Mechanical layout
Mating connectors
Current-production NBX-981 housings include 5 harness-side connectors — three from Delphi and two from Bussmann. The reference P/N below documents the connectors on the current production build; wire-side seals, terminal P/N and pin-out are confirmed against the customer harness drawing at quotation.
| # | Reference P/N | Brand |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 15326666 | Delphi |
| 2 | 15326910 | Delphi |
| 3 | 15326654 | Delphi |
| 4 | 32004-A2 | Bussmann |
| 5 | 32004-B2 | Bussmann |
Compatible fuse & relay families
The NBX-981 cavity accepts the following fuse and relay families. Specific part numbers are set by the harness drawing.
| Type | Family / P/N | Rating |
|---|---|---|
| Fuse | Bussmann 227 / ATC | 1 A – 30 A |
| Bussmann BK / ATC | 1 A – 30 A | |
| Littelfuse 287 ATO | 1 A – 30 A | |
| Relay | ISO mini-relay sockets — manufacturer and contact rating specified per program | Reference DC 20 A – 30 A @ 28 V |
Capacity summary
Reference build: 15 fuse positions and 7 relay positions in the standard housing. Electrical and environmental envelope per the specification table at the top of this page; fuse plan, relay choice and the connector pin-out are confirmed against the customer harness drawing at quotation.
Manufacturing & testing
Manufactured under IATF 16949 with the same PPAP package and lab validation as the rest of the NBX series.
Related models & how to ask
Related models: NBX‑955 (12-way) for compact programs, NBX‑2301 (17-way) for a few more fused branches in the same blade-fuse format, NBX‑2404 when relay switching needs its own enclosure rather than the few optional sockets in this fuse box, and NBX‑958 (32-way) when the program steps up to a central distribution box. The fuse box buyer guide covers counting circuits with headroom so you land on the right capacity. Quotes via the contact page.
