Overview
The EBX-954 is a 24 V pure-logic body control module designed for heavy-truck, commercial-vehicle and construction-machinery platforms that need a high-density I/O bank in a compact sealed envelope, without the integrated fuse/relay carrier of a larger central distribution box. Where the EBX-953 combines BCM logic with an internal fuse/relay carrier in one box, the EBX-954 is the right tier when the program already has a dedicated power distribution box on the harness and just needs the body-logic ECU.
Electrically the module operates across an 18–32 VDC range with quiescent current ≤ 1 mA (low standby draw suitable for vehicles that park for extended periods). Four-layer hardware protection (over-voltage / over-current / short-circuit / over-temperature) covers each output channel. The communication backbone is three CAN buses plus one LIN bus, with on-board ISO 15765 diagnostics. A reserved RF receive-antenna port is provisioned on the housing for RKE / remote-keyless programs where the customer asks for it.
The reserved RF port makes the EBX-954 RKE-ready, but the module is a body-logic BCM and does not carry a passive-entry / passive-start stack on board. On a 24 V programme that wants full keyless entry and push-to-start, the EBX-954 keeps the body logic while a dedicated EBX-964 PEPS controller owns the LF antennas, the fob authentication and the start sequencer — see the PEPS keyless entry guide for the integrated-versus-dedicated decision. If you are still deciding between a BCM, a VCU and a PMU for the platform, the BCM vs VCU vs PMU comparison sets the three side by side.
Integrated functions
The EBX-954 covers the body-control functions that a heavy commercial vehicle typically spreads across a BCM plus several discrete controllers:
- Vehicle lighting. Headlamp / position lamp / fog lamp / turn signal / brake lamp / reverse lamp / horn drive and feedback.
- Cab comfort & HVAC. Air-conditioning control (compressor / blower interlocks), wiper drive (intermittent / low / high), washer pumps, mirror folding and mirror heating drive.
- Ignition & powertrain interlocks. Ignition-lock signal, start-up control, gear-position monitoring, ECU control interlocks — safe sequencing of start / accessory / run states.
- Central locking & doors / windows. Door lock / unlock drive (electric central locking), door open / close signal acquisition, electric-window drive on the LIN sub-network.
- After-treatment. Reserved driver channels for after-treatment heater / delay-off control branches on modern emission-equipped diesel programs.
- Vehicle network & diagnostics. 3 CAN buses for inter-controller communication and body-builder integration; 1 LIN bus typically allocated to the electric-window or smart-switch sub-network; on-board ISO 15765 diagnostics service.
Engineering details
The EBX-954 occupies a 193.6 × 157.8 mm footprint with a 33.6 mm overall height (including connector profiles), with M9 mounting bushings on four sides and a PC200 upper / lower housing wrapping an FR-4 PCBA. The connector field is six sealed harness positions distributed across all four edges of the housing — A on the bottom, B on the bottom-right, C on the top-right, D on the bottom-left, E on the side, F on the top — giving the harness designer room to land the inputs on one side and the high-current outputs on the other.
- Four-layer hardware protection on every output: over-voltage cut, over-current limit, short-circuit cut-off and over-temperature de-rating, in line with commercial-vehicle BCM-side protection practice
- 3 CAN buses plus 1 LIN — protocol confirmed per program (J1939 family commonly used on commercial-vehicle networks); LIN typically allocated to the electric-window or smart-switch sub-network
- ISO 15765 on-board diagnostics for end-of-line bench testing and field service tooling
- Input bank: 67 channels with per-channel digital/analog and high/low active level configuration — one of the densest input banks in the EBX BCM range, suitable for programs with many switch and sensor signals
- Output bank: 26 high-side outputs + 19 low-side outputs = 45 driver channels for body actuators (lamps, locks, windows, mirrors, fans, after-treatment heaters)
- Reserved RF receive-antenna port for RKE / remote-keyless add-on; specific RF front-end confirmed per program (e.g. 315 MHz / 433 MHz family)
- IP54 sealing (dust-protected, splash-protected) suitable for cab-mounted installation; specify a sealed-connector variant at quotation if the program requires chassis-mounted IP67

Construction
Comparison with other Youlai BCM modules
The EBX BCM family covers two main voltage classes (12 V and 24 V) and two architectural patterns (pure-logic BCM vs. integrated fuse/relay BCM):
| Model | System | Pattern | I/O density | Footprint |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EBX-954 | 24 V (18–32 VDC) | Pure-logic BCM + RKE-ready | 67 in · 45 out | 193.6 × 157.8 mm |
| EBX-953 | 24 V (18–32 VDC) | Integrated fuse/relay BCM | ~110 I/O + 48 protected outputs | 285.8 × 159.8 mm |
| EBX-2305 | 12 V (9–16 VDC) | Pure-logic BCM + integrated RF | ~120 I/O across J1/J2/J3 | Compact, new-energy class |
| EBX-2313 | Light truck class | Pure-logic BCM (no integrated fuse/relay) | ~100 I/O across 5 connectors | 138 × 170 mm |
The EBX-954 is the right choice when a 24 V program needs a high-density input bank and RKE-ready provisioning, without the integrated fuse/relay carrier. Pair it with one of the NBX central distribution boxes on the harness if the program also needs centralised fuse / relay routing — or step up to the EBX-953 if BCM logic and fuse/relay carrier should live in one box.
Manufacturing & testing
Built under IATF 16949 with APQP project planning and a PPAP package available for OEM programmes. Every unit is end-of-line functional-tested before packaging — CAN/LIN bus health, ISO 15765 diagnostics service, quiescent current, the lighting / locking / window / wiper / mirror I/O matrix and (when fitted) the RF receive channel are all checked. Environmental validation and EMC pre-compliance screening in our in-house lab is run when the programme requires it.
