Overview
The EBX-2208 is the EBX family's dedicated 24 V wiper controller. Where a full BCM such as the EBX-953 or the EBX-954 absorbs wiper drive into the body-control scope, the EBX-2208 is the right tier when the program wants the wiper drive isolated on a small, hard-wired box close to the wiper motor — either because the BCM is already at I/O capacity, or because the program uses a steering-column combination switch that hands the wiper command directly to the wiper motor without going through the BCM.
Electrically the module operates across an 18–32 VDC range with quiescent current ≤ 3 mA. The output stage is dimensioned for direct drive of a commercial-vehicle wiper motor in three speed modes (high-speed, low-speed, intermittent), with park-position feedback closing the loop so the wiper always reverse-parks to the stowed position on switch release. The build is sealed to IP53 (dust-protected, splash-protected) for in-cab placement near the steering column or under the dash.
Integrated functions
- High-speed wiper drive. Two-channel high-speed drive output sized for the wiper-motor high-speed brush.
- Low-speed wiper drive. Two-channel low-speed drive output sized for the wiper-motor low-speed brush.
- Intermittent mode. Programmable wiper-cycle timing — reference profile per the customer combination-switch behaviour and run-time over the IGN-on window.
- Park-position reverse. Park-position feedback from the wiper motor — the controller reverse-parks the wiper to the stowed position on switch release, regardless of where the blade is mid-stroke.
- Switch debouncing. Debounced low-speed / high-speed / intermittent switch inputs (typical 5 – 20 ms debounce) so column-switch contact bounce does not double-fire the drive.
Engineering details
The EBX-2208 occupies a 130 × 99.4 mm footprint (110 mm body width × 90 mm depth, 130 mm over the side mounting ears with two M7 through-holes on the ears) with a 39.5 mm overall height (including the connector profile on the top edge). The harness interface is a single sealed 13-pin housing on the bottom edge of the controller — one mating cycle, one harness drawing per cab.
- Single-housing harness footprint: all power, ground, switch inputs, park feedback and motor drive land on one 13-pin sealed connector
- Two-channel drive per speed: two pins on the bottom row drive the wiper-motor high-speed brush, two pins drive the low-speed brush — doubled-up pin pairs give the harness the cross-section needed for the wiper stall current without needing larger AWG
- Park-position closed-loop: the controller never simply cuts the drive on switch release — it always reverse-parks the blade to the stowed position using the park-position feedback signal from the wiper motor
- Wide IP53 sealing suitable for in-cab installation; specify a sealed-connector variant at quotation if the program requires under-hood IP65 / IP67 placement near the wiper-motor housing
- 3-part PA66-style construction: upper housing, FR-4 PCBA, lower housing — serviceable on the bench with the customer's standard fuse-extractor tooling

13-pin pin-out reference
The standard build lands all signals on a single sealed 13-pin connector (6 pins top row + 7 pins bottom row). The reference pin-out below documents the channel allocation on the current production build; the customer harness drawing is the final specification at quotation.

Comparison with other Youlai wiper / BCM modules
The EBX family covers several patterns for wiper drive. The EBX-2208 is the dedicated single-housing 24 V tier:
| Model | System | Pattern | Drive modes | Harness |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EBX-2208 | 24 V (18–32 VDC) | Dedicated wiper controller | High / Low / Intermittent + park-reverse | 1 × 13-pin sealed |
| EBX-961 | 24 V (18–32 VDC) | Smart wiper controller | Speed + intermittent (per program) | Compact, IP53 |
| EBX-953 | 24 V (18–32 VDC) | Full BCM — wiper inside scope | Speed + intermittent + washer | 9 sealed (multi-connector) |
| EBX-954 | 24 V (18–32 VDC) | Pure-logic BCM — wiper inside scope | Speed + intermittent + washer | 6 sealed (AMP) |
The EBX-2208 is the right choice for a program that wants the wiper drive isolated on its own hard-wired ECU close to the wiper motor — particularly on builds where the steering-column combination switch goes straight to the wiper controller without passing through the BCM. For an even smaller smart-wiper controller without the intermittent timing logic exposed, look at EBX-961; to absorb the wiper function into a wider BCM scope, look at EBX-953 or EBX-954.
Manufacturing & testing
Built under IATF 16949 with APQP project planning and a PPAP package available for OEM programmes. Every unit is end-of-line functional-tested before packaging — quiescent current, the high-speed / low-speed / intermittent switch inputs, the wiper drive H-bridge in both speed modes, the park-position feedback loop and the reverse-park behaviour on switch release are all checked. Environmental sealing follows the IP53 reference; specify a sealed-connector variant at quotation if the program requires under-hood IP65 / IP67 placement.
How to ask
The EBX-2208 belongs to the Smart Control Modules family. To request the harness drawing, the wiper-motor stall-current rating, the intermittent timing profile or a PPAP package, please use the contact page with your target vehicle programme, expected annual volume and key technical requirements (wiper motor model, intermittent timing profile, IP rating, connector preference). Drawings welcome.
