Overview
The EBX-2162 is one of three modules in the EBX family's shared 125 × 123.9 mm cab-side controller platform. The same housing, the same four-fold safety-protection silicon stack, the same 24 V wide-range supply front-end and the same 1 × CAN reporting front-end are used across the platform — only the connector configuration and the firmware function-block change between modules:
- EBX-2162 — this module — WCM (wiper control module). 14-pin + 16-pin = 30-pin connector pair, wiper / washer / LIN output / steering-wheel multi-function pass-through.
- EBX-2163 — DCM (door / window control module). 20-pin + 24-pin = 44-pin connector pair, door / window drive + mirror adjust & heat + central-lock + key learning.
- EBX-2164 — LCM (lighting control module). 18-pin + 32-pin = 50-pin connector pair, full vehicle lighting + trailer-light detection + ADAS-input pass-through (LDWS / FCW).
The shared-platform approach lets a commercial-vehicle program standardise on one housing + one mounting footprint + one toolchain across the cab-side controllers, while still pulling each module's purpose-built connector / firmware set when the cab loom is built. Module-to-module CAN messaging follows the program's J1939-family or OEM-defined CAN profile (CAN protocol confirmed per program; J1939 family typical for 24 V commercial vehicles).
Integrated functions (3 main groups)
1. Wiper drive
Wiper high-speed drive, wiper low-speed drive and intermittent-mode drive with a sensitivity-adjustable input (the customer combination switch's sensitivity dial maps onto the analog input on the 16-pin connector). Park-position closed-loop using the park-position feedback signal from the wiper motor — the controller always reverse-parks the blade to the stowed position on switch release.
2. Washer drive (with wiper low-speed co-action)
Washer-pump drive with the typical wash-wipe linkage profile — pressing washer triggers the washer-pump output and co-actions the wiper low-speed drive for the configured wipe-cycle count, then reverse-parks the blade after the final wipe cycle.
3. Steering-wheel multi-function pass-through
The 16-pin connector carries a set of reserved analog and logic inputs for the steering-wheel multi-function switch (cruise / Bluetooth / track-up-down / volume-up-down). The EBX-2162 reads the switch state, debounces it, and forwards the decoded multi-function command onto the body CAN bus for the cluster, the audio-head and the cruise-control consumer to subscribe to — eliminating the need for a separate steering-column pass-through module on a typical 24 V commercial-vehicle program.
Engineering details
The EBX-2162 sits on the shared 125 × 123.9 × 28.6 mm platform housing — same dimensions / same mounting features as the EBX-2163 DCM and the EBX-2164 LCM. The mounting features are 2 × Φ9.2 mm + 2 × Φ10.2 mm through-cuts on a 68 × 34 mm hole pitch on the bottom face of the housing, with a permanent-marking area for the OEM build-traceability label.
- Four-fold safety protection — over-voltage, over-current, short-circuit and over-temperature protection on each high-current drive channel; protects the controller + the motor / load against the typical commercial-vehicle stall-current, jump-start over-voltage and short-to-ground / short-to-battery fault profiles
- Shared platform housing with EBX-2163 / EBX-2164 — one mounting footprint, one mechanical bracket, one assembly procedure across all three cab-side controllers
- 30-pin Tyco dual-connector — harness designer lands the high-current drive / power / LIN-output side on the 14-pin C-173860-1 connector and the input / sensor / CAN side on the 16-pin C-1318382-2 connector, keeping the high-current side and the signal side cleanly separated at the harness end
- LIN 12 V output channel — lets the WCM drive a downstream LIN-side accessory (typical wash-wipe lighting or heated-blade controller) without needing a separate LIN master on the program
- 6 reserved input channels on the 16-pin connector (4 analog + 2 logic) — specifically allocated for the steering-wheel multi-function pass-through, so the program does not need a separate steering-column module
- 5 reserved high-side outputs on the 14-pin connector — program-specific allocation for wash-wipe linkage / heated-blade / park-position-lamp / accessory drive
- Free-orientation mounting — no required orientation; typical placement is on the steering-column or the behind-dash bracket
- IP53 sealing class suitable for in-cab installation; specify a sealed-connector variant at quotation if the program requires under-hood IP65 / IP67 placement
- Materials: cover in PC (impact-resistant), main housing in PP-GF30 (30% glass-fibre reinforced polypropylene — dimensional stability across temperature, low warpage), FR-4 PCBA

Comparison with other Youlai wiper modules
| Model | Pattern | Pin count | Function scope | Steering-wheel pass-through |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EBX-2162 | Platform WCM | 30 (14+16) | Wiper + washer + LIN + multi-function | Yes (cruise / Bluetooth / track / volume) |
| EBX-2208 | Dedicated wiper controller | 13 (single) | Wiper only (high / low / intermittent + park-reverse) | No |
| EBX-961 | Smart wiper controller | Compact | Wiper (speed + intermittent) | No |
The EBX-2162 is the right choice for a 24 V commercial-vehicle program that wants the wiper / washer drive plus the steering-wheel multi-function pass-through unified on one ECU — particularly when the program shares the cab-side controller platform with the door / window (EBX-2163) and lighting (EBX-2164) modules. For a smaller dedicated wiper-only controller (single 13-pin connector, no steering-wheel pass-through), look at EBX-2208.
Manufacturing & testing
Built under IATF 16949 with APQP project planning and a PPAP package available for OEM programmes. Every unit is end-of-line functional-tested before packaging — the wiper high-speed / low-speed / intermittent drive, the sensitivity-adjust analog input, the washer drive with wash-wipe linkage, the LIN 12 V output, the four-fold safety-protection envelope (over-voltage / over-current / short-circuit / over-temperature trip and recovery), the 1 × CAN bus health, and the 6 reserved steering-wheel multi-function inputs are all checked.
