Overview

The NBX‑961 is the dedicated central distribution box for excavator and off-road construction-machinery programs. Where commercial-vehicle PDBs are designed around chassis dynamics, the NBX‑961 is designed around the duty cycle of a machine that lives on a boom: sustained high-amplitude vibration, dust ingress, occasional water exposure, wide thermal swing.

Engineering details

The enclosure carries an IP67 sealing rating with sealed connectors at the harness exit. Internal mechanical mounting is engineered for the vibration spectrum typical of hydraulic-driven machinery rather than the lower-frequency profile of a road chassis.

  • Designed around excavator and construction-machinery duty cycles
  • IP67 enclosure with sealed connectors and vent membrane
  • Vibration-tolerant internal mounting and component selection
  • CAN-bus harness compatibility — protocol confirmed per program (J1939 family commonly used on commercial-vehicle and machinery networks)

Mechanical layout for NBX-961 — product photo (left) and multi-view enclosure drawing (right) with overall envelope 139 × 178.3 mm and 34.7 mm side profile; 129.5 / 75 / 90 mm internal datums. Programme-specific dimensions are confirmed against the customer harness drawing at quotation.

Mating connectors

The standard NBX-961 build uses 4 sealed TYCO harness-side connectors from the 1670901 series. Wire-side seals, terminal P/N and pin-out are confirmed against the customer harness drawing at quotation.

Built-in load functions

Programme-specific load mix — the NBX-961 reference build covers the following 12 cab-electronics functions, sized for excavator and construction-machinery harnesses:

  • Start control
  • Horn control
  • Remote keyless entry (RKE) control
  • Cigarette-lighter control
  • Wiper control
  • Audio control
  • Display-screen control
  • Parking control
  • Work-light control
  • Pre-heat control
  • Air-conditioning (HVAC) control
  • Charging-circuit control

Manufacturing & testing

Manufactured under IATF 16949. IP and vibration validation in our in-house lab; rationale documented on the IP65 / IP67 page.

Related models & how to choose

The NBX‑961 sits in Youlai's sealed distribution family — every member uses a sealed enclosure with a sealed-connector harness exit, but the protection grade ranges from IP65 to IP67 and each is aimed at a different platform. The NBX‑961 is the IP67 member built for tracked, construction-class machines that ride a continuous high-amplitude vibration spectrum; pick a road-chassis sibling when the box instead lives on a road-going commercial vehicle.

  • NBX‑961 — tracked and construction machinery. The IP67 member, engineered for a construction-machinery vibration profile and carrying the 12-function excavator cab-electronics load set above on a configurable harness exit for the connector families machinery OEMs use. The box for excavators, wheel loaders, cranes and similar off-road platforms.
  • NBX‑971 — sealed road chassis. The same IP67 sealing for a road-going commercial vehicle that does not see the track-frame vibration profile.
  • NBX‑968 — chassis-only sealed enclosure. An IP65 sealed box without the integrated excavator load mix.

Why an excavator needs a different box at all — what vibration, dust, temperature range and connector strategy actually change versus a truck PDB — is covered in the excavator PDB buyer guide. For an excavator-platform discussion or to send a harness drawing, go to the contact page.
