Overview
The EBX-2160 is the most network-rich device in the EBX BCM family — a 24 V Central Power Distribution module (CPD) that combines body-control logic, an integrated fuse / relay carrier and a full commercial-vehicle network stack (CAN + LIN, J1939 application protocol, OSEK direct-network-management, UDS / ISO 15765 diagnostics) in one sealed unit. Where the EBX-953 targets a commercial-vehicle BCM-with-PDB use case on a private CAN architecture, the EBX-2160 is the right tier when the program standardises on SAE J1939 (the commercial-vehicle CAN protocol) and needs OSEK-style coordinated sleep-wake plus UDS on-line configurability at the end-of-line.
Electrically the module operates across 16–32 VDC with quiescent current ≤ 1 mA and a wide 10–32 VDC CAN voltage range — the latter useful on construction-machinery programs where the bus voltage can sag during engine cranking. Four-layer hardware protection (over-voltage / over-current / short-circuit / over-temperature) covers each output channel. The fitness envelope (16–32 V + 10–32 V CAN range) is set so the device can sit on construction machinery, commercial-vehicle platforms and new-energy programmes on the same hardware (passenger-car aftermarket prototypes are supported on request).
Integrated functions
The EBX-2160 covers the body-control and power-distribution functions typically spread across several controllers on a commercial-vehicle harness. On the standard build the integrated logic services:
- Power distribution. Per-circuit fuse and relay routing for the body-actuator loads; main feed via slow-blow / mid-blow fuses on the high-current branches.
- Switch & sensor acquisition. Digital and analog switch / sensor input acquisition with per-channel level configurability (high / low active) and reserved spare channels.
- Lighting & horn. Headlamp / position lamp / fog lamp / turn signal / brake lamp / reverse lamp / horn drive and feedback.
- Wiper & washer. Wiper drive (intermittent / low / high) and washer pump control; reserved channels for an automatic-light / rain-sensor LIN sub-network where the program fits one.
- Ignition & standby. ON-fire / power-cut sequencing, scheduled deep-sleep power-off and authorised remote wake-up; battery state-of-charge / state-of-health sensor interface.
- Engine charging & fuel-system protection. Alternator excitation control; fuel-level acquisition; fuel-system anti-theft authentication (immobiliser-style challenge / response on the CAN backbone).
- Combination switch interface. LIN-bus interface for the steering-column combination switch (lighting / wiper / horn stalk) on programs that select a LIN combination switch.
- Communication authentication & signal forwarding. CAN-message authentication and signal forwarding between the powertrain CAN segment, the body CAN segment and the upper-vehicle / body-builder CAN segment.
- Safety alarms. Reserved input channels for gas-leak / liquid-leak alarm sensors on natural-gas or specialty programs.
- Network & diagnostics. 1 CAN bus running the SAE J1939 application protocol with OSEK direct-network-management; UDS (ISO 15765) and J1939-73 (DM1-style) diagnostics; UDS-driven on-line end-of-line configuration; Bluetooth / wired application-software re-flash on programs that ship a flash service.
Engineering details
The EBX-2160 is built on a single large PCBA with an aluminium-backed power layer that carries the relay coil drivers and the high-current bus bars. The internal carrier holds 11 main relays (24 V coil, ISO sealed mini-relay family — reference Hongfa HFV6 / HFV15 / HFV16 series or equivalent automotive-grade family) and 60+ blade fuses (5 A – 25 A reference mix from Littelfuse-style families) routed through the nine harness-side connectors on the perimeter.
- Four-layer hardware protection on every output: over-voltage cut, over-current limit, short-circuit cut-off and over-temperature de-rating
- Wide-range CAN front-end: 10 – 32 VDC bus voltage range, so the device keeps talking through engine cranking sags on construction-machinery programs
- Full network stack on the standard build: SAE J1939 application protocol, OSEK direct-network-management for coordinated sleep / wake across the network, UDS (ISO 15765) plus J1939-73 (DM1-style) diagnostics
- On-line configurability: per-vehicle option-bits and timing parameters are written at the end-of-line over UDS, so the same hardware can ship in multiple variant trim levels without re-flash
- Application-software re-flash over Bluetooth or wire on programs that ship a flash service (FOTA-style update path)
- 9 sealed harness connectors (A–J skipping I) from the Tyco automotive series on the current production build
- IP53 sealing (dust-protected, splash-protected) suitable for cab-mounted installation on commercial vehicles and construction machinery; specify a sealed-connector variant at quotation if the program needs chassis-mounted IP67

Internal fuse & relay configuration (reference build)
The standard production build carries 11 main relays (24 V coil, ISO sealed mini-relay family) and a 60+ blade-fuse bank across the central bus, sized for the typical commercial-vehicle body-load mix. The reference component set below documents the current production build; programme-specific OEM internal P/N is shared on PPAP request, and the final fuse / relay mix and component sourcing are confirmed against the customer harness drawing at quotation.

Comparison with other Youlai BCM / CPD modules
The EBX BCM / CPD family covers two main voltage classes (12 V and 24 V) and two architectural patterns (pure-logic BCM vs. integrated fuse/relay BCM / CPD):
| Model | System | Pattern | Network stack | Footprint |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EBX-2160 | 24 V (16–32 VDC) | CPD: BCM + fuse/relay (large) | CAN + LIN, J1939 + OSEK + UDS | ~330 × 200 mm class |
| EBX-953 | 24 V (18–32 VDC) | Integrated fuse/relay BCM | 3 CAN + 1 LIN (private) | 285.8 × 159.8 mm |
| EBX-954 | 24 V (18–32 VDC) | Pure-logic BCM + RKE-ready | 3 CAN + 1 LIN, ISO 15765 | 193.6 × 157.8 mm |
| EBX-2305 | 12 V (9–16 VDC) | Pure-logic BCM + integrated RF | 2 CAN, PEPS / RKE | Compact, new-energy class |
The EBX-2160 is the right choice when the program standardises on SAE J1939 with OSEK network management and needs the largest integrated fuse / relay carrier in the EBX family. Programs that need an integrated fuse / relay BCM on a private CAN architecture should look at the EBX-953; programs that need a high-density input bank without the integrated fuse / relay carrier should look at the EBX-954.
Manufacturing & testing
Built under IATF 16949 with APQP project planning and a PPAP package available for OEM programmes. Every unit is end-of-line functional-tested before packaging — CAN bus health, J1939 DM1 diagnostics, UDS configuration write, quiescent current and each integrated fuse / relay position are all checked. Environmental validation and EMC pre-compliance screening in our in-house lab is run when the programme requires it.
